Describe the Characters is a free printable Grade 1 English worksheet on describing a character using details from the text, aligned to Common Core standard RL.1.3. It prints 2 questions with an answer key on its own sheet of paper, in 25 versions, 22 of them with different questions, so no two pupils in the class work from the same page. Print it from the browser or download it as a PDF — no account, no email.
Set 14 of 25 · the same problems every time you open this link.
Set 1 has all 25 in a single PDF. 22 of these 25 sets ask different questions — this skill does not have 25 questions to give. The rest reorder them, so no two pupils have the same paper in front of them.

Too Loud
The school band practised in the hall every Thursday. Sam played the drum. He liked it best when he could hit it hard.
"Softer," said Mrs Otu. "The flutes cannot be heard."
Sam did not want to play softly. But he tried it. This time he could hear the flutes too, winding above the drum like a bird. It sounded better than anything he had played before.
1. What changed Sam's mind?
2. How did Sam feel about playing softly at first?
2.Read the text, then answer the questions.
The Wobbly Tooth
Ravi had a wobbly tooth. He pushed it with his tongue all through lunch. It hurt a little, and he did not want to eat.
His friend Nell sat down beside him. "Mine came out last week," she said. "It only wobbles for a few days."
Ravi felt better. He ate his sandwich on the other side of his mouth. That night the tooth came out on his pillow.
1. How did Ravi feel at lunch?
2. What kind of friend is Nell? How do you know?
