Owls
Owls hunt at night. Their eyes are very large, so they can see when there is almost no light.
An owl's feathers have soft edges. This makes their wings quiet. A mouse cannot hear an owl coming.
Owls cannot move their eyes from side to side. Instead, they turn their whole head. An owl can turn its head much further than you can.
1. What is the main idea of this text?
2. Why are an owl's eyes very large?
3. When do owls hunt?

How Seeds Travel
A seed cannot grow in its parent's shadow. There is not enough light. So seeds have to move away.
Some seeds have wings. A sycamore seed spins like a tiny helicopter and lands far from the tree.
Some seeds hook onto fur. A burr catches on a passing fox and drops off somewhere new.
Some seeds sit inside fruit. A bird eats the fruit and the seed comes out later, miles away.
1. Why can a seed not grow in its parent's shadow?
2. What does a sycamore seed do as it falls?
3. How does a burr travel?
