  1. 1.1. A killed virus, a weakened one, or a single surface protein.
  2. 2.1. Both say the obvious explanation is not the main one. 2. Both explain a present-day fact by going back to how it came about. 3. This corrects a wrong explanation before giving the right ones; that one builds a mechanism forwards.
