Our Rock Collection is a free printable Grade 2 science worksheet on describing and sorting rocks by size, color and texture, aligned to NGSS performance expectation 2-PS1-1. It prints 7 questions with an answer key on its own sheet of paper, in 25 versions that each ask different questions, so no two students in the class work from the same page. Print it from the browser or download it as a PDF — no account, no email.
Set 6 of 25 · the same problems every time you open this link.
Set 1 has all 25 in a single PDF. All 25 sets ask different questions.

We looked at the size, color and texture of every rock.
1. Why did the class look at the same three things for every rock?
2. What claim does this table support?
3. Which rocks were smooth?

3.Why are pebbles from a stream often smooth and round?
A.The water has rolled them and worn their corners off
B.They grew that way
C.People polished them
4.Which of these tells you a rock's size?
A.Bumpy
B.Shiny
C.As big as an egg
5.Two rocks are the same color. How else could you tell them apart?
A.By what day you found them
B.By how they feel, or by their size
C.You cannot tell them apart
6.How could you sort ten rocks into two groups by texture?
A.Rough ones and smooth ones
