The Blue Door
At the end of the lane stood a house with a blue door. Nobody had lived there for years. The grass grew as high as Tomas. One Saturday a van pulled up. A woman got out with a ladder and a tin of paint. By teatime the blue door was bright yellow. Tomas waved. The woman waved back. "I'm Nita," she called. "Come and see the garden when I've cut it."

The Wobbly Tooth
Ravi had a wobbly tooth. He pushed it with his tongue all through lunch. It hurt a little, and he did not want to eat. His friend Nell sat down beside him. "Mine came out last week," she said. "It only wobbles for a few days." Ravi felt better. He ate his sandwich on the other side of his mouth. That night the tooth came out on his pillow.
