  1. 1.1. Three — the quarry working and stopping, what is underwater now, and what the children call it. 2. The first two give the history; the last says it no longer matters to the people using it. 3. The quarry stops, the hole fills with rain, children swim there.
  2. 2.1. "the boats set down on their own keels". 2. Three — the tide going out, what is revealed, and the tide coming back. 3. "Then, without a sound at all".
