  1. 1.1. Forty. 2. She does not give up — she tries pushing it, then drops in pebbles one at a time. 3. It says the crow had flown for hours without water, so finding the pitcher matters. 4. Little by little does the job — patience and thinking solve what strength cannot.
  2. 2.1. The yeast — she used the salt twice. 2. Bread. 3. She is determined — she washed the bowl out and started the bread again instead of throwing it. 4. Ada chooses to start again rather than throw the bowl.
